The Olmec were an ancient Mexica civilization that occupied the land from 1400 to 400 BC. They are believed to have been some of the earliest cultivators of tobacco in areas like San Andres.
The Olmec Claro Toro cigar is rolled at the Tabacalera A.J. Fernández Cigars de Nicaragua factory in Esteli. It begins with a spicy San Andre wrapper that has undergone a slow fermentation to preserve the natural oils. Nicaraguan bale-aged binder and filler complete the line-up.
Nick Melillo has done it again. The initial light reveals notes of coffee, earth, and black pepper, as well as lots of creamy smoke. Medium-strength and full-bodied, this Olmec will appeal to many Nicaraguan Aficionados. It's a well-constructed, solid cigar.
